Under the UGC Act of 1956, the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) in Thiruvananthapuram was granted the status of “Deemed to be University” in 2007. The institute has received approval from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). The campus covers a total area of 117 acres and is ranked AAAA+ in engineering.
